The
Home Support Program is designed to promote, maintain or enhance an
individual's well-being in his/her home. Home Support is to supplement
and not to replace the family's ability to provide care. The services provided through Home Support include a range of activities:
These services may be obtained from trained persons available in the community. Requests for home support should be discussed with the your nearest Continuing Care Nurse Coordinator or Continuing Care Social Worker. The provision of Home Support is based on a standardized assessment of need and financial eligibility. Those qualifying for the service are provided with a monthly subsidy to purchase the service. Services may be purchased through a licensed home support agency in your area or clients may choose to hire and supervise workers privately. Usually a financial contribution is required by users of the service. Any questions concerning financial eligibility and the process should be directed to the Financial Assessors at Regional Office, Gander.
