Primary Care Shared Services

For each of the islands of St. Brendan's and Change Islands, a Regional Nurse serves as the principal medical representative in administering and coordinating medical services. The nurse consults by telephone with physicians at the Emergency Department of James Paton Memorial Hospital and physicians at Fogo Hospital.

The role of the Regional Nurse in this service includes:

• Emergency interventions
• Non-emergency interventions and First Aid
• Arranging transportation of clients via air/road/water
• Accompanying clients to hospital, when necessary
• All other programs and services provided by Continuing Care Nurse Coordinators and Public Health Nurses
